Mining Site
Tweelaagte Mine (Pty) Ltd was established by the community of Witrandjie, located near Sun City in the North West Province of South Africa.
The company was founded on a partnership between three families — Monageng, Raborife, and Pooe — in collaboration with Lurco Metals
The founding families came together to form a family trust, which facilitated the transfer of the land known as Portion 3 of Tweelaagte 175 JP into a similar trust structure to start a mining business. Through this trust, the families applied for a Preferential Prospecting Right under Section 104 of the Mineral and Petroleum Resources Development Act (MPRDA), operating under Sky High Trading 459 (Pty) Ltd, trading as Tweelaagte Mine (Pty) Ltd.
The community involved in this initiative extends to surrounding villages including Tlhatlhaganyane, Mabelleng, Maologane, Mmorogong, and Ga-Raborifi 1 & 2. Today, the mine is primarily operated by the founding family, with a limited number of subcontractors supporting the operation.
